In an Alexander Technique lesson, weโll explore how to bring more ease into everyday activities, whether itโs something you do for fun, work, or simply being. We do this by understanding how the body is designed to move, noticing where we might be adding unnecessary effort, and exploring options that support you.
My own journey with this work started when I developed repetitive strain injuries in both arms over 10 years ago. Alexander Technique not only helped me learn to work without pain, but has deeply shaped my sense of empowerment, and how I move through the world.
I've been training to teach Alexander Technique since November of 2021, and Iโm in my final phase - Teaching practice lessons helps me grow as a teacher while offering you a chance to experience the work.

What kinds of things can we work on?
Alexander technique is fundamentally about our ability to make conscious choices. Our habits are the water we swim in, and so it can be hard to see where we have agency and choice available. You can come with any topic where you want to have more awareness and freedom, whether physical or mental. Some examples are:
-
Discomfort or pain while doing an activity
-
Performance anxiety
-
Feeling stuck in patterns that aren't serving you
-
Desiring more access to your full creative potential
What's a lesson like?
I'll start by asking you about what you'd like to be easier or different. This will shape what we explore and how. We can work directly on an activity together - the idea is for you to walk away with something you can apply in your life. Some of the tools we'll use are:
- I'll use gentle hands on contact to help you experience new ways of being in your body
- We'll try doing things multiple ways, and I'll ask you about what you're noticing (you'll have an active role :) )
- Sometimes I'll bring your attention to something noteworthy
- I'll bring in the anatomy and mechanics relevant to what we're exploring.
- We'll experiment with how you're using your attention
